Aurora held her breath in as she waited for the King to give them leave. A woman burst in and a bear approached her, stopping to growl at the table. She feared for the woman's safety. Doesn't she know bears are wild creatures who kill and main? She shouldn't have challenged Rothgar. she thought. She may be right, but he would only extract his revenge.
Needless to say, Aurora was all too happy to leave the room with the Elven princess. Her pace quickened as they left the feast until they reached their destination. Safe from the Rathians, she was overcome with a mixture of emotion. I'm free! She was elated, she was worried. She was hopeful, she was anxious. Taking it all in, she struggled at first to answer the princess's questions amid tears of both joy and concern. "I don't know where to begin. I can't tell you where I'm from but I can tell you who I am and where I've been. The Rathians aren't to be trusted, are we safe here?"
Aurora checked the door and made certain it was locked. Finally ready to speak free, her words came out as fast as she could speak them. "I-I'm sorry about the dress but I needed to get someone's undivided attention without Rothgar seeing. His men killed my own in cold blood and took me captive, they-they only took me here because I lied about my real homeland to protect my people. Good people. When he found out he hurt me, threatened to kill me, and said I was...to be his slave. My name is Aurora, I have to get home and he cannot find out about this. Can you help me out of the city? I can't go back there! He's a bad man, your father shouldn't trust him. You won't say anything, will you?" By the end of her explosion of words, she had completely circled the room; she was restless and filled with renewed energy.
Aurora watched the princess with anticipation. Is she kind-hearted? Did she listen? Part of her instantly regretted speaking and not just walking out. She was speaking ill of the nation making peace talks with the nation of whose princess stood before her. What if the princess had her returned to Rothgar? I should just go. She didn't know how far she could make it, but it had to be better than going back. If the princess didnt offer help, she was prepared to make a run for it. Her freedom was not yet guaranteed.
