Illithia moved from her private chambers into the common area of the long house where the fires were burning brightly along a long pyre that was constantly lit and tended to. The smell of ale was strong as she waited for the arrival of her brothers to discuss the King's current wishes to branch out and find allies. She was wearing the usual leathers, high boots and twin blades at her hips as she came into the common room. There were a few that were sitting about inside, smoking long pipes while all her other people were outside enjoying the warmer clime of the land. People took advantage of the mild weather before the punishing winter would bring that need to conquer back into their bones. The mild months allowed them to go and enjoy their vast lands, to wander, discover the jewels of the land and reap what they sowed.
She was preparing a feast for her brothers upon their arrival to discuss the things her King wished for them to do. Their loyalties were to him, even if they disagreed and she was certain she was the one disagreeing the most with what he wanted. She heard the beying of horses from the stables next to the long house and it gave her the urge to ride across the rocky plains and ride as fast as she can. But now was not the time to feel that freedom of wind in her hair. Now was the time to work out who would do what.
It was time to discover the world around them. She moved to the door as her steeled gaze waited with anticipation for her brothers. She loved them dearly and missed them even more. Her memories were filled with joy when she remembered the mock fights she used to have with her brothers, running through the manor home with wooden swords while the servants chased after them, trying to stop them from breaking the luxuries her father paid for in decor. They didn't care. They just wanted to fight. They would be the eyes and ears of the world around them, but their father knew they could only be children once.
She watched the world outside of her longhouse, busy with merchants, farmers, shipmakers and warriors. The young maidens flirted and the young warriors grinned from ear to ear at the attention that was being paid to them. It made her proud to govern them.
